"Duration of Miracles"

April 18, 19, 21 & 22, 1994

On April 18, 19, 21 and 22 of 1994, Tom L. Bright of the churches of Christ and Richard F. Jackson of the United Pentacostal Church met in debate in Chelsea, Oklahoma to discuss the question of the duration of miracles. Mr. Bright affirmed the cessation of miracles in the 1st century, and Mr. Jackson affirmed miracles will continue until Jesus comes. The debate occurred at the United Pentacostal church building located at 301 Walnut Street, Chelsea, Oklahoma.

Mr. Bright affirmed the following proposition: "The Scriptures teach that all miraculous manifestations of the Holy Spirit ceased in the 1st century." Mr. Jackson denied.

Mr. Jackson affirmed: "The Scriptures teach that miracles, mighty signs and wonders by the power of the Spirit of God, are for the church today." Mr. Bright denied.
