Introduction
1. Matthew 7:12 is perhaps one of the most often quoted
Scriptures.
2. Consider the various corruptions of this rule.
a. Do unto others before they do unto you.
b. Do unto others as they do unto you.
c. Do unto others if they do unto you.
I. The Golden Rule is a comprehensive rule.
A. Jesus says, “all things, whatsoever.”
B. Nothing is taken off the table.
C. We are to apply the Golden Rule with our entire ability.
D. Read Philippians 2:3, 4.
II. The Golden Rule is an introspective rule.
A. Jesus calls upon us to look within ourselves.
B. Read 2 Corinthians 13:5.
III. The Golden Rule is a universal rule.
A. The term “men” is a general term that does not denote
gender.
B. Read Galatians 6:10.
C. Even our enemies are the object of this rule (Matt. 5:44).
IV. The Golden Rule is an active rule.
A. Jesus says, “do ye.”
B. It is not enough to just feel for someone (Jas. 2:15, 16).
