A BLESSED PERSON
Psalm 119:1-8
I. The Characteristics (vv. 1-3)
A. The blessed are undefiled.
1. “Undefiled” means “without blemish, upright.”
2. Read Romans 12:1, 2.
B. The blessed “walk,” “keep,” and “seek.”
1. These are verbs.
2. Action is being described.
3. Christianity is a process, not a point.
II. The Conscience (vv. 4-6)
A. A properly trained conscience is under consideration.
1. Our consciences cannot always be our guide (Acts 23:1).
2. Only a properly trained conscience should be our guide,
and that with consitent looks into the mirror of God’s
Word (Jas. 1:25).
B. A blessed person respects God’s commandments.
1. Liberalism and denominationalism respect man’s way
more than God’s (Matt. 15:9).
2. Worldliness disrespects God’s Way (Rom. 1:24-32).
C. A blessed person is not ashamed.
III. The Commitment (vv. 7, 8)
A. The resolute Psalmist announces his faithfulness.
B. Commitment must come before the crisis.
1. The time to make decisions about life and sin is before
compromising situations come.
