THE MIND OF CHRIST

Philippians 2:5

Introduction

1. Having the mind of Christ is a command.

2. What does the mind of Christ look like?

I. Obedience

A. Our Savior is obedience-oriented.

B. His prayer of Luke 22:42 shows His obedient spirit.

C. Christ could have pulled out all the stops to avoid

obedience, but He obeyed God which shows us that we

must do the same.

II. Compassion

A. Jesus was accused of being a friend of “publicans and

sinners” (Lk. 7:34).

B. Such were His audience (Matt. 9:12).

III. Service

A. Jesus was born to serve (Matt. 20:28).

B. The most mundane of chores was not beneath the Savior

(Jn. 13:3-9).

IV. Forgiveness

A. In the Savior’s most painful hour, His heart was full of

forgiveness (Lk. 23:34).

B. How forgiving are we?

V. Humility

A. Truly Jesus is the King Who lived as a pauper.

B. We will all humbly bow before this King (Phil. 2:10;

Rom. 14:11).
