THE 20/20 VISION OF THE
CHURCH (part 2)
Show Them A
Sermon
Acts 20:20
Introduction
1. It is said that people would rather see a sermon than hear one.
2. What kind of sermon are you showing?
3. Consider what we should be showing others by our lives.
I. Trust
A. Do we show a trust in God?
B. Is God our refuge, strength, and help (Psa. 46:1)?
II. Faithfulness
A. Is the application of Hebrews 10:25 shown in your life?
B. A sure test of whether or not faithfulness is being shown
by your life is to ask: “If Christianity became illegal,
would there be enough evidence to convict me of that
crime?”
III. Effort
A. Do people see us making the effort to do what is right, or
do people see us making excuses about why we can’t do
what’s right?
B. Have our friends, co-workers, or family heard us say, “I
know the Bible says not to skip church services, but will
one service really matter”?
C. Do people see us make an effort to invite others to
services?
IV. Distinction
A. Do you show people something different from the world
(1 Pet. 2:9)?
B. When you talk about the church, does your speech sound
different?
1. Do you refer to the building as the church?
2. Do you refer to the preacher as the pastor?
3. Do you denominationalize the non-denominational
church of our Lord?
