FATHER KNOWS BEST

Genesis 2:15-24

 

 

  I.  The Need For Labor (v. 15)

       A.  God knew that man should not just sit idly by.

       B.  God created man for useful good works (2 Thess. 3:10;

             Eph. 2:10).

             1.  “An idol mind is the Devil’s workshop” is not actually

                  found in the Bible, but its sentiments are found there.

             2.  We are told to be productive thinkers (Phil. 4:8).

 

 

 II.  The Need For Liberty (vv. 16-19)

       A.  Adam was not a robot!

       B.  He was given liberty of choice.

       C.  We are free moral agents which means that we have the

             ability to choose to do right or wrong.

             1.  God does not force us to do right.

             2.  The Devil does not force us to do wrong.

 

 

III.  The Need For Limitations (v. 17)

       A.  God limits us for our own good (Eph. 6:1-3).

       B.  Limiting such activities as found in Proverbs 6:16-19 and

             Galatians 5:17-21 will generally ensure healthy, happy

             living.

 

 

IV.  The Need For Love (vv. 18-25)

       A.  Love was a necessary ingredient in the beginning.

       B.  All sin (with perhaps the exception of ignorant sins) stem

            from a lack of love for God or for fellow man.

       C.  God showed His love for us in the sending of His Son

             (Rom. 5:8).
