PAUL’S FRIENDS

Colossians 4:7-14

I. The Faithful

A. Tychius (vv. 7, 8) was trusted by Paul to be an accurate

go-between.

1. He would faithfully present the goings on of Paul just as

he had faithfully worked with this great apostle.

2. There is a shortage of individuals who will truthfully

represent a situation.

B. Aristarchus was a comfort and a companion to the

imprisoned Paul (v. 10).

C. Justus (v. 11) and Luke (v. 14) were workers!

II. The Forgiven

A. Onesimus (v. 9) was once unprofitable but had become

very useful in the work of the Lord (Philemon 11-18).

B. The departing John Mark (Acts 13:13; 15:36-41) has now

returned to the work, and he is approved of by Paul.

III. The Fervent

A. Epaphras was a resident of Colosse (v. 12).

B. It is believed that he was the evangelist who won these

Colossians to Christ.

C. His work and zeal need to be patterned today (v. 13).

IV. The Fickle

A. Demas, who is favorably mentioned here (v. 14), is seen

for what he truly is in 2 Timothy 4:10.

B. He was not grounded and rooted in Christ.
