Sunday’s Sermon Sketches

SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE

 I.  Abortion

      A.  Expectant mothers are sometimes said to be “with child”

(Matt. 1:18) declaring that a life is in the mother’s womb.

      B.  Life begins at conception.

            1.  Ashley Montague, Professor at Harvard and Rutgers,

said:  “The basic fact is simple:  life begins not at birth,

                 but conception.”

            2.  Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who has performed over 60,000

abortions, said:  “Modern technologies have convinced

us that beyond question, the unborn child is simply

another human being, another member of the human

community, indistinguishable in every way from any of

                 us.”

      C.  Consider these verses.

            1.  Jeremiah 1:5

            2.  Luke 1:41, 44

            3.  Exodus 21:22, 23

II.  Euthanasia

      A.  “Euthanasia” comes from two Greek words which mean

            “good death” or “easy death.”

       B.  Euthanasia is little different from abortion.  Both are

             murder on demand for convenience.

       C.  “Mercy killing” is STILL killing.

Conclusion

1.  The sanctity of human life must be preserved.

2.  The discarding of embryos in conception experiments, cloning,

or other “research” practices devalues human life.
