REVERENCE IN WORSHIP

 I.  God deserves and demands reverence.

      A.  God alone is Reverend.

      B.  God demands reverence in worship (Jn. 4:24).

            1.  To worship in spirit is to worship with the right attitude.

            2.  God sees and knows the hearts of those who worship

                 Him.

II.  Practical Applications

      A.  Worship is time to give to God!

      B.  How do you worship?

            1.  Too many people worship with craning necks.

(These are the ones who act like they need to look at

EVERYTHING that is going on around them.)

            2.  Too many people worship with wandering feet.  (These

are the people who can’t seem to stay seated and are

                 up and down very frequently.)

            3.  Too many people worship half-heartedly (Matt. 6:21).

                 a.  Worship is not the time do nails, write notes, talk,

daydream, or anything else other than worship.

                 b.  Distracted attention is scarcely attention.

            4.  Too many people’s worship is unacceptable.

      C.  Have you ever seen someone who was in the building but

            not worshipping (Heb. 10:25)?

Conclusion

1.  Benefits from reverence in worship include approval from God,

love for the brethren, and an over-all focus on what really

     matters.

2.  God knows how you worship Him.

3.  Would your worship of the Lord be different if Jesus were

      sitting beside you?
